I recently discovered a program called "a2mp3". This little program of less than 1 MB can optimize your MP3s and convert audio to MP3 format. To install:

sudo apt-get install a2mp3

Or for Windows, I attached the program in executable format.

To use:

On Linux, just use:

a2mp3 audio-file.mp3

The optimized MP3s will be in /home/{your username}/mp3tmp/. To optimize whole directory of MP3s, use:

a2mp3 *.mp3

For Windows, you install the program and then there is some GUI.
